Growing up, I always enjoyed Halloween. Getting dressed up, candy, carving pumpkins, and the other fun activities that surround the day. Last week, we had Reformation Awareness Week. The two chapels of the week were based on the Reformation and how it affects us today. Thursday night we had pumpkin carving and caramel apple bar. Friday night was our annual Reformation Carnival. One my roommates, Jamie, and I dressed up together. She was Mrs. Pac man and I was Pinky, the pink ghost, from the game. We made our costumes from supplies that we bought at Wal-Mart.
On Saturday Rachel and I were invited to Lorah’s uncle, Hans’ wedding. Him and his fiancĂ©e, Blanca were finally tying the knot after 5 years of dating. For those that don’t know, Lorah lives off campus with her grandparents and uncle Hans. Whenever we go over there Hans and Blanca usually make an appearance and talk with us for a bit. They are a cute couple that is completely in love. It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding. Blanca and Hans were so happy. A bunch of Lorah’s family came down from Canada for the occasion. It was nice to see them all again and meet some new people.
On Sunday I got to go to an Anaheim Ducks vs. Calgary Flames hockey game. My friend Jeremy and I went together. It was a really fun game. After the game we were heading down the street to get onto the freeway. Some guy in a big white truck decided to come in my lane and didn’t see me. He sideswiped me on my driver’s side. There was no place to pull over right where I was so I got in the turning lane to turn into a shopping center. The guy in the truck drove right past me, looked at me, and then sped up and drove away. Jeremy and I tried to get his license plate number, but he was driving too fast.
As Thanksgiving gets closer, I find myself more and more excited about being at home with my family and friends again. I am sure that it will be nice to have a break from school work. The coming weeks are going to be pretty busy and before I can blink Thanksgiving will be here.
