Wow! I can’t believe that I haven’t updated in almost a month. I don’t even know where to begin, so much has happened. Prepare yourselves for a very lengthy entry! The first weekend of April was spring formal. It was a fun night of getting dressed up and dancing around like a bunch of crazy people. That same weekend, two of my best friends, Aimee and Lauryn, came to visit me. It was a ton of fun. During the school year, Aimee, Lauryn, and I try and keep in touch and make sure we are all doing okay, but for the most part don’t get to talk very much because we are all busy with school. One thing that I love about those girls is that no matter how long it has been since we talked, we always pick up and it’s like we were never apart. It’s great. It was fun to have them at PCC and be able to let them into my college world. I will always hold a special place in my heart for those girls.
April 9, was Lorah’s 21st birthday! That night we went out to dinner and celebrated. It was a great night of celebration, great conversation, and many laughs. It was definitely a night to remember. Pretty late that night I got a call from my good friend Curtis, telling me that his dad had passed away. Curtis’ dad, Kevin, was diagnosed with cancer right before our senior year of high school. Since then, his dad has had a very long battle, with many ups and downs along the way. The past couple months things started to get a lot worse and the doctors began to find more tumors in different places. Ever since my trip home in March, I have been keeping in touch more with Curtis and had been hearing how bad it was getting. His family new that it was only a matter of time before the Lord took Kevin home. I spent the rest of that night in total shock that it was actually all over and that Kevin was now standing in the presence of God.
The next day, I headed home for the weekend, to spend Easter with my family. Once I was home, I talked with my dad and made the decision to stay home for a few extra days so that I could be home for Kevin’s funeral. Throughout the 6 days that I was home, I had the opportunity to hang out with Curtis. It was great to be able to sit and talk with him face to face. Kevin’s funeral was absolutely amazing. I walked away so blessed by the music, sharing of stories, pictures, and message given by Pastor Duane. Kevin was such an amazing man of God and will be greatly missed by so many. It was so great to hear about the man that Kevin was and to realize how much Kyle and Curtis are like him. I loved it.
The rest of that weekend was pretty good. I got to spend a lot of quality time with my dad which was a lot of fun. We went out to dinner a couple times and watched a few movies with just us. I love talking with him about techy stuff and hearing about the new products that he just found out about. I love him and was so happy to spend time with just him. I don’t get the opportunity to do that very often, so it was great. I also got to hang out with some other friends and just relax.
After spending that time at home, Ben came back to PCC with me for the weekend. It was so nice having him around school for a few days and show him what my college life is like. That weekend, my mom and dad came down to spend the weekend with me in So Cal. We ended up making a spontaneous decision to go to Disneyland for a day. It was so much fun. My family hadn’t been together since I was in first grade! I had a blast hanging out with them. I miss them all so much when I am at school.
As you can all imagine, this month has been pretty crazy for me, but I have enjoyed every minute of it. This week is my last week of my Sophomore year. It’s so weird to say that. I can hardly believe that my college career is half way over already. This past Monday we planted a tree in honor of Jen Uwarow and that was just great. I will write a blog about it in the next couple days. I have a lot to say about it and this blog is already long enough!
Well I should get back to the books now!!!!!!!!!!
